Arrested Burglar
On March 21 at 8:20p, we responded to a burglary at a house
in 3600 blk of Busse. The resident heard noises and left the house,
going a few blks away where she contacted a friend to return to
the residence with her. When they
returned, they saw a male inside the house and called police. The male took food from the refrigerator and laid on the couch.
The resident's friend confronted the suspect and the suspect left the
residence prior to police arrival. The
suspect had broken a window out of a door to make entry. While investigating
this incident, at 8:45p, officers were sent to a house in the 10 blk of Lansing
for a male who had entered a house through an unlocked door and confronted the
female resident. The male left and the
resident called police. The suspect was
not located but sounded like the same person from the Lansing
call. At approx. 10:15pm, officers
responded to the 100 blk of Leon
St. for an unknown man passed out in a resident's
car. Officer's contacted the man who
appeared to be impaired by alcohol, drugs or both. Officers learned that prior to entering the car, the suspect had tried a door at a nearby residence, but
was unable to enter because it was locked.

in Rockford and he needed to get
there. The resident gave the man $15 and
later realized he may have been scammed.
Suspect left to a dark '80's Ford van.
This is a common scam that we see from time to time on the East and
North side.

Man Arrested for Battery to Police Officer
On 3/27, we responded to Piccadilly

Officers knew from past contacts that the man tended to be
uncooperative. While trying to walk the
man out to the car, he repeatedly fought with Officers Radzicki and Vosburg. He pushed Off. Radzicki into a wall, stomped on her foot, and bent her
thumb back. As a result of these
actions, the man was arrested for DC, Resisting, and Battery

Neighborhoods may
request the use of: Speed Studies, Speed Boards, Speed
Trailers
The weather is getting better so we will be able to conduct
speed studies in your neighborhoods again.
The speed study will give you a printed report of the time and number of
vehicles traveling at various speeds.
This is a great tool to use in lower traffic volume neighborhoods where
we get complaints we do not see the same problems. The study will give us the times that the
speeds are a problem so we can allocate our time in those areas when we are
needed.
Please let me know by e-mail where you would like a speed
study conducted and we will be able to get one done in a reasonable amount of
time (there are some limitations regarding multi-lane roads). Copies of the studies are sent to the
District Commanders, TEST district liaison officers, TE and a file in the TEST
office.
There is also the speed trailer and portable speed boards
available. Please contact Patti Knocke or Bob Olson if you are interested having these in
your neighborhoods.
**The portable speed board must be monitored by people while
it is up in a neighborhood. Citizens can
request the board by calling Patti or Bob at 266-4703. If they have 2 people making observations,
there is a log they can fill out and warning letters will be mailed to the
registered owners by MPD.
**The speed trailer is a stand alone speed display that can
be left in a neighborhood unattended. It
is usually used during day hours 7-3, but can be requested for early evenings
as long as a PM TEST officer is available to retrieve it.
That's all for now. Be careful. Be safe.
